X Marks the Spot: Exploring Rías Baixas Albariño
Wines
Doug Frost, wine expert and author, hosts this
three-part series about Albariño wines from
Spain.
July 2007 (Medialink) -- This three-part series
hosted by wine expert and author Doug Frost not
only teaches viewers about Albariño, viewed as
the "darling" white wine of American sommeliers,
but also begs the ultimate question—how do you
actually pronounce Rías Baixas?
In the first of the three segments, "Albariño –
Follow that Grape from Spain to the States"
Frost explores the history of the Rías Baixas
region while conveying the personality of these
fresh and fruity wines. In "X Marks the Spot -
Where to find Albariño wines," the series winds
its way through Manhattan’s popular wine shops.
Otis, the Bottlerocket dog, guides viewers on
their search to find Rías Baixas Albariño in
this urban jungle. The series culminates with "Albariño
- Exceptional with Everything or Nothing," which
demonstrates the versatility and
food-friendliness of this cool white wine. Woven
throughout a compact exploration of this Spanish
grape are interviews with Rías Baixas producers
and local wine experts.
