It's time
for an annual Prescription Drug Checkup...www.MyMedicareMatters.org
helps Seniors understand their choices
WASHINGTON, Nov. 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Seniors hurt
by the recent economic downturn can find a
way to save precious dollars on prescription
drugs. On November 15 the open enrollment
season for Medicare Part D begins and now is
the perfect time for people with Medicare to
reevaluate their prescription drug coverage.
www.MyMedicareMatters.org, a
program of the National Council on Aging (NCOA),
can help people learn how to review and
evaluate their plan options to make sure
that they have selected the right plan for
2009.
Medicare Part D plans change, and a yearly review is
essential to making the most of Medicare. A
change in an individual's drug usage, or a
change in what the plan offers or costs, are
all factors that may cause an individual to
switch plans.
"In the current economic climate, many more people with
Medicare may need to maximize their
prescription drug coverage.
MyMedicareMatters.org has all the tools they
need to understand how to evaluate their
current plan, make comparisons between
plans, and find other benefits programs that
may save them more money," said Wendy Zenker,
vice president of NCOA's Benefits Access
Group.
"People with Medicare must be diligent and review their
plan each year to ensure they continue to
carry the best coverage for their current
and expected future circumstances," Zenker
added.
Seniors and their caregivers can find the trusted
information they need to make this
assessment on
www.MyMedicareMatters.org.
By visiting the Review 2009 Choices tab on the home page,
individuals can directly access information
on what factors could cause them to switch
plans, instructions on how to switch, and
resources on additional financial assistance
such as the Medicare Extra Help. The site
can help people with Medicare understand the
communications they receive from Medicare
through the mail, as well as the steps to
take when there is a problem.
To serve seniors with timely and accurate information,
www.MyMedicareMatters.org has
added new features on appeals, exceptions
and grievances.
The Web site also includes information about manufacturer
patient assistance programs that can help
many people already in Part D plans, plus an
Ask-an-Expert section that answers people's
questions quickly.
Seniors who speak Spanish can visit

the same important information and resources
as they would on
www.MyMedicareMatters.org .
My Medicare Matters is made possible by a grant from
AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, LP.
Since 2005, the start of Medicare Part D Prescription Drug
Coverage, NCOA has managed the My Medicare
Matters campaign, bringing resources to
seniors and the community-based
organizations that serve them.
