Aussie
Pink Floyd tribute to ‘The Wall’ , Knocks
crowd out at
Fabulous Fox
By Steve Connelly
Special to TodaysSeniorsNetwork.com
Rock fans of all ages were treated to a time capsule Nov.
7-8 when the Aussie Pink Floyd recreated a
bit of history with the performance in its
entirety of the original group’s legendary
rock opera, ‘The Wall’.
To fully understand the significance of this, one must
appreciate what it would be like to be able
to go back in time and hear and see a
historical figure in person…and, while
Aussie Pink Floyd is not the original group,
it has honed its talents to provide what is
the standard for tributes to the original
Pink Floyd.
There is no dispute that Aussie Pink Floyd is as close to
the real thing as any tribute performance
can be.
This is the second review that I have done for
TodaysSeniorsNetwork.com on an Aussie Pink
Floyd production at The Fabulous Fox. But,
don’t think that is only because it is true
that Pink Floyd itself was a favorite of
many aging Boomers, such as myself, but has
a much larger appeal that transcends
generations.
The quality of Aussie Pink Floyd does the same, and the Fox
audience was peppered with people of a wide
span of age groups, which is almost ironic
since ‘The Wall’ deals with a theme of
isolation.
Significantly, The Fabulous Fox offered light and sound
support for the spectacular show which,
while mirroring much of the original Pink
Floyd-type settings, has added many of its
own special touches.
Unfortunately, the demanding schedule of the show only
allowed a two-night performance.
The only solution to this is for The Fabulous Fox to be
sure to have Aussie Pink Floyd return as
often as its schedule allows, and as long as
there is a demand to see what is undoubtedly
the outstanding tribute show for any rock
group because it provides originality and
dedication to the quality of the original,
that it has been accepted even by the
original Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, who
invited Aussie Pink Floyd to perform at his
birthday.
That’s an endorsement that money can’t buy. So, keep your
antenna up and keep an eye on the growing
number of versatile entertainment being
provided at The Fabulous Fox to be sure that
the next time this tribute hits town, you’re
there—it’ll be your chance to enter a
musical history time capsule.
