Famous Old Time Music
Company Restoring Old School
& Looking to Develop Tourism in West-Central Ohio
Wapakoneta, OH - Aug. 5, 2003 - Famous Old Time Music,
located just outside Wapakoneta, OH on US 33 will be hosting 2 events
this summer to promote tourism and awareness to west-central Ohio, and
to raise money to further restore the old St Johns Schoolhouse. They are
hoping to draw upwards from 1,000 people to each of the events from all
over the US. The first event, "Hoedown & Hogroast in the
Cornfields" is to be held August 30th at their facility on US 33.
The Featured artist will be International Entertainer and Nashville
recording artist, David Church. David is considered to be the best
Hank Williams Sr tribute artist in the world by The Hank Williams Fan
Club, as well as 2 Hank Williams museums in Alabama. The Tribute
show includes historical information and facts on America's most famous
country music singer/songwriter.
Also appearing will be female artist, Terri Lisa.
Terri Lisa has
performed all over the world as well and will be featuring songs from
Patsy Cline to Kitty Wells and Martina McBride. Vernon McIntyre's
Appalachian Grass, a national Bluegrass act will bring some toe-tapping
music and Gospel. The music starts at 3:00 and will last
throughout the day with an intermission between 6:00 and 7:00. The
price of the event is: $12.00 advance - $15.00 at the gate and
includes the Hog Roast. It will be held outside, rain or shine.
They have invited RV CLubs from 5 states and camping is free for both
events. Vendors are invited as well, and can set up a booth with
the purchase of a ticket.
The second event, to be held September 11, 12, & 13th is a special
memorial to September 11th victims and our military, Featured acts
will include: Simple Times,
Lyn Hall & Poppy Mtn Express, Lost Creek, Larry Fuller Band, Woolum
Brother, Lillie Mae & Dixie Gospelaires, Appalachian Grass.
Individual tickets for each day can be purchased or a 3 day ticket
can be purchased for $25.00.
Famous Old Time Music Company, started in Cincinnati in the early 70's
by Harry Sparks and Mac Smith. The store sells Vintage and new
instruments, instructs students, and hosts events. It was
sold to Vernon McIntyre in 1984. Vernon, a legend in Bluegrass,
has performed with Dolly Parton, Marty Robbins, and many others.
In 2001, Vernon decided to open a second location just outside of
Wapakoneta in the old Schoolhouse in the St Johns Community.
His dream is to keep traditional style music alive and bring tourism
into the area. The auditorium inside the schoolhouse hosts a
variety of shows from Gospel, Bluegrass, & Country. Plans are
being made to build an outside pavilion to host outdoor concert during
the summer seasons. Additional plans for a museum for vintage
instruments are also in the works.
Auglaize and Mercer County are home to many tourist attractions from the
"Neil Armstrong Museum" to fabulous lakes and resort areas.
