It’s Halloween…Mike Isaacson weaves Magic to provide the first of a season-long series of treats for opening of 2006-2007 season at The Fabulous Fox with Halloween Opening of 'Spamalot'

On Halloween night, literally thousands of metropolitan St. Louis children will carry on a regional tradition of knocking on doors, performing a joke, riddle or song that will determine if they get a ‘trick or treat.’

And while they are doing that, theater goers to The Fabulous Fox will receive a treat from Mike Isaacson and the Fox that will keep on giving with a Halloween Opening of ‘Spamalot’.

In our annual interview with Mike, it quickly became evident that this is going to be a special season.

“I’m feeling really good about the shows,” Mike says.  “Five of the shows have not been here before, and that’s always exciting.  Add to that the return of ‘Lion King’  and some other old favorites, it makes this an especially outstandingly strong season.”

Here’s Mike's read on the season: (For details on the shows, click here.)

‘Spamalot’, October 31-November 26, 2006—“I’ve never laughed harder at any musical in my life, the show is just a romp. It’s all about entertainment, a delicious evening, it makes fun of Broadway and Broadway musicals, and is totally disarming.”

‘The Light in the Piazza’,January 30 - February 11, 2007—“This show has been call the new ‘West Side Story.’ What makes this comparison apt is that when ‘West Side Story’ opened in 1957, it was new and fresh.  This show has that same feeling, it’s a love story, not synthetic. Actually, it’s a true love story between mother and daughter, and all that goes with that.  The show just lures one into Italy in the 1950s, a meaningful show, with a special feeling.”

Edward Scissorhands. February 27 - March 11, 2007--With this show, Mike and The Fabulous Fox scored a coup since it is coming directly from London prior to its New York debut:
“This is going be a lot of fun. It’s a lot like ‘Movin’ Out’ and ‘Stomp’.  We’re excited about doing it in cooperation with Dance St. Louis since this will be a magical evening.  It uses music from the movie, but we’re especially lucky to have Matthew Bourne in the lead who was praised by the New York Times who urged the audience to ‘Just bring your ears and eyes and marvel at the inventions of Mr. Bourne's theatrical imagination.’”

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, March 27 - April 8, 2007—“People will remember this from the really funny movie since it is based on the popular 1988 MGM film, about centers on two con men living on the French Riviera Based on the popular 1988 MGM film, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels centers on two con men living on the French Riviera who make their money conning rich women.  It’s really funny and provides a nice pace for the season.”

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, May 8 - 20, 2007—“This is a different type of show and includes audience participation.  People from the audience will actually be called up on stage, but don’t worry, it’s strictly voluntary.  Since the show is a long ways off, anyone interested will have time to bone up on their spelling skills.  It’s just a fun show and a truly entertaining evening.”

Disney's The Lion King, June 21 - July 29, 2007—“This is just a great way to end the Broadway series.  We started getting calls within a week of when it closed after its first visit to St. Louis.  ‘Lion King’ is just a great American theatrical experience, and we’re excited about being able to bring it back.”

So, when those children knock at your door Halloween night and you give them a treat, remember that you still have an opportunity for a special treat of your own from Mike and The Fabulous Fox.  It could be one of the premier seasons in recent memory.
