AARP and
Google launch Consumer Protection Videos to
protect Older Americans Online
WASHINGTON, PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AARP
and Google have launched a series of
consumer protection videos to help educate
older Americans about how to safeguard
themselves while using the Internet.
AARP and Google joined together to leverage
the power of their brands to help raise
awareness about the importance of Internet
safety and online privacy.
The videos cover subjects including the
importance of password safety, using sharing
controls, avoiding online shopping threats
and "phishing" scams, and knowing and
controlling what is posted about you online.
The videos were debuted before more than
20,000 AARP members during the association's
annual member event.
"The number of older Americans using the
Internet has skyrocketed. The collaboration
with Google will help educate our members
about Internet safety so the Internet can
enhance our members' lives," said Nancy
LeaMond, AARP's Executive Vice President of
Social Impact.
"Record numbers of older Americans are going
online to surf the web, connect with family
and friends, share photos, and run online
businesses," said Shuman Ghosemajumder,
Google's Business Product Manager for Trust
and Safety.
"We hope the Online Safety video series will
help AARP members keep their online
information safe, private, and under their
control."
