Fabulous Fox Theater shows why it is
the premier entertainment venue with
Australian Pink Floyd Show
By Steve Connelly

The Fabulous Fox Theater is well-known
throughout the country for not only the
beauty of the restoration of the theater,
but for its role in bringing Broadway
quality shows to a large audience from
throughout the Midwest.
Less widely known is the fact that The Fox
is also providing a broad spectrum of
entertainment that has cemented its stake as
the premier entertainment venue in a large
region with its presentations of some
wonderful concerts and shows that enhance
its 25th Anniversary (since the
restoration) season.
The recent appearance of the Australian Pink
Floyd show proves it.
As one of the early-on ‘Boomers’ (I just
turned 60 last year), I have a great
appreciation of the true musical talent of
the original Pink Floyd, which, of course,
hung up the guitars and put away the lights
years ago. But, memories of the group
remained. The challenge might seem
foolhardy to some—trying to emulate the
music of the original group and risk
comparison is a daunting prospect.
But, one of the many groups that accepted
the challenge has measured up—Australian
Pink Floyd—and they proved it with their
visit to The Fabulous Fox.
Simply put, this was a spectacular show.
Set in the backdrop of the ornate Fox, the
lights and music were outstanding. The
musicians are likely as close to the
original Pink Floyd as one could ever get,
so much so that with just a bit of
imagination, one could be carried back in
time so much so that it is possible to
forget that Australian Pink Floyd is now the
original group.
But, equally important as one who grew up in
St. Louis, is the pleasure of knowing that
The Fabulous Fox is truly the total venue
for quality entertainment of a wide variety
of shows and concerts. And, while it
remains ‘The Place’ for its wonderful
musical productions, its many recent books
(Dylan, Bennett, the Ultimate Doo Wop Tour)
represent The Fox’ commitment to attracting
and entertaining a wide and varied audience
