The Campaign for
Affordable Prescription Drugs urges you to take action to keep
safe and affordable prescription drugs available to all
Americans. We are proud to
take a leadership role in the Campaign for Affordable
Prescription Drugs, a national grassroots coalition of
non-profit State and local Senior Citizen Consumer Organizations
that has led the national fight for lower prescription drug
costs for the last five years.
While negotiation by Medicare for
prescription drug prices is needed, realistically the only way
that we can have affordable prescription drug prices in the
U.S.A. immediately is by using the power of International
Markets to bring about lower costs for all Americans. Such
legislation will allow individuals, U.S. wholesalers and
pharmacies to import prescription drugs from more then twenty
countries (including Canada and the European Economic Union)
that have prescription drug safety standards as safe or safer
than those of the U.S. Because of successful actions in July,
it is expected that there will be a floor vote in the Senate on
prescription drug reimportation in September or early October.
