The Campaign for Affordable Prescription Drugs urges you to take action to keep safe and affordable prescription drugs available to all Americans.  We are proud to take a leadership role in the Campaign for Affordable Prescription Drugs, a national grassroots coalition of non-profit State and local Senior Citizen Consumer Organizations that has led the national fight for lower prescription drug costs for the last five years.

While negotiation by Medicare for prescription drug prices is needed, realistically the only way that we can have affordable prescription drug prices in the U.S.A. immediately is by using the power of International Markets to bring about lower costs for all Americans.  Such legislation will allow individuals, U.S. wholesalers and pharmacies to import prescription drugs from more then twenty countries (including Canada and the European Economic Union) that have prescription drug safety standards as safe or safer than those of the U.S.  Because of successful actions in July, it is expected that there will be a floor vote in the Senate on prescription drug reimportation in September or early October.

Call to Action

Please Contact your U.S. Senators and Representative Now !

Ask your U.S. Senators to support good Prescription Drug Importation by:

·          Supporting the provisions of the Dorgan-Snowe-Vitter Bi-Partisan Prescription Drug proposals and amendments for a safer medication supply in the U.S. to save Americans up to 50% on brand name drugs.

·          Opposing any “poison-pill” provisions, such as interference by the Department of Health and Human Services, that would prevent implementation of legislation.

·          Asking your Senator to become a co-sponsor of S. 334 (Dorgan-Snowe - Pharmaceutical Market Access and Drug Safety Act)* or S. 109 – (Vitter-Thune- Pharmaceutical Market Access Act of 2005)**

·       Allowing the Government to negotiate drug prices for Medicare beneficiaries by supporting the MENDS Act (S.239).

Ask your U.S. Representative to support strong Prescription Drug Importation by:

·       Supporting the tri-partisan Pharmaceutical Market Access Act of 2005 – H.R. 328. Lead authors: Congressmen Gil Gutknecht (R-MN), Rahm Emanuel (D-IL); and Bernie Sanders (I-VT)***

·       Asking House Speaker Dennis Hastert to hold a floor vote on this legislation now!
