150+ Baby Boomers talk
Social Media on October 1st, 2009
San Francisco, CA (OPENPRESS) September 10,
2009 -- Over 150 baby boomers will gather
and engage in a discussion on the topic of
social media and how baby boomers should
navigate the maze of social media.
“I believe this is an invaluable topic for
which baby boomers to focus. The 2008
Presidential campaign was shaped by the use
of social media.
"
In addition, it has given power and voice to
consumers who are daring to be listened to
by brands" said Carlos Hernandez, Chief
Evangelist of iRM Consulting and Co-Creator
of "Social Media for the UnComfortable".
“Everyone talks about using social media for
their business. The younger generation
doesn’t seem to be concerned about privacy
and security issues on the internet. I was
able to build a successful business without
social media. Is it something we should
really bother with?” said Terry Hird, CEO of
Negotiation-International and an Honored
Instructor for UC Berkeley Extension.
“Our goal for this event is to bridge the
gap for baby boomers and their fear or myth
around social media. We want to put the big
elephant in the room and address specific
challenges and questions that Baby Boomers
faced around social media,” said Edith Yeung,
Executive Producer of BizTechDay and leader
of a local community of 2,600 entrepreneurs
called SFentreprenuer.
The highlight of the evening is to discuss
some hot topics around social media for baby
boomers including:
- Which Social Media tools or Social
Networks should Baby Boomer focus on? Or at
all?
- How to interact with a younger generation
on various social networks
- Dos and Don’ts on Social Media
- Privacy concerns or security issues for
baby boomers and how to deal with them
This event is part of the Pre-BizTechDay
